I read an interesting article last week. The writer was lamenting about women carrying handbags that could easily fill a 10-pound bowling ball. I start to think? Is my handbag really too bulky for me? How about you? In fact, the article states that lugging around with a heavy handbag could be detrimental to your health.

What's the fuss about?

So I made a comparison of women carrying a big, bulky handbag against sales personnel of various industries who go round pulling chunky bags on wheels. As if those weren't heavy.

I know and you know that women love carrying large handbags. We need to store our other "don't leave home without it" items. Seriously, I don't know what you got in there but I always carry my management diary, a PDA phone and sometimes and extra blouse and a foldable umbrella. Do you take these items out of your handbags once you reach home? I doubt it. You'll need it the next day and you would! n't want to clutter your bed space.

Carrying large handbags is absolutely fine and I think those who carry small handbags or purses might as well carry their wallets at the back pockets of those tight jeans. It feels weird not to have anything much in the handbag we carry daily as well. What if it rains?

Another friend of mine, being a bookworm that she is, often is seen popping out a romance novel from her Gucci handbag. What else can you think of? Bottled water, sweets and their wrappers, make-up kits, purse etc. It is not too much is it? So I guess no handbag is too bulky for any women.

Weight does not matter at all if we can exude style when carrying our favorite handbag. So much more if it is a designer handbag. Think Coach, Gucci, Prada etc. So if you think your handbag is too bulky for you, think again. Would you sacrifice weight for style and whatever it brings with you?

News :Market Bounces on Wal-Mart Earnings

The market is getting a big bounce this morning in early trading. WMT topped consensus estimates and its stock gapped higher. But the overall strength this morning is likely due to the fact that the market finally got so oversold.

Goldman Sachs (GS) announced at the Merrill Lynch (MER) conference that it will not take an additional write-down, and that it remains net short the subprime market. That helped push the stock up +6%, and lifted the broker/dealer index.

Oil is down another $2, near $92. But the way these oil service stocks are trading, you would think oil had collapsed back into the $70s. I think two near-term opportunities to add money will be in the agriculture stocks and solar plays, which I will likely due via ETFs.

The RAG triumvirate (RIMM, AAPL, GOOG) is nicely higher. My big concern is just that this is too much, too early. You know h! ow I prefer markets that close strong rather than open strong.

The volatility index (VIX) is falling -16% so far. The Yen is lower also, which is a big positive. So let's see if the bulls have it today, after a 4-day drubbing the likes of which hasn't been seen in five years.

So we had another day of benign consolidation. The markets were down slightly, but volume ran lighter for a 2nd straight session. That's how I like it, for volume to expand on the rallies, and the pullbacks to come on lighter volume.

And at least we didn't turn around right away and give back all of the big gains from Wednesday. Regardless, the SPX was down for third straight week. I think that sets us up for a strong week next week, going into quarter-end, regardless of the FOMC meeting.

Mid-caps (MID) outperformed handily today, gaining +0.9%, and small-caps (RUT) also bucked the weakness, rising +0.3%. And don't forget the renewed interest in growth stocks.

The 10-year yield rose again to 5.23%, a new high for the year, but in-line with the 5.25% fed funds rate that the Street is looking for next week.
